Here's 2249 recordings of single words, originally created for a CD-ROM I made based on a graded-reader series (Easy Starts, Penguin) used by my Extensive Reading jr high classes here in Japan. The series is beginner-level so most of the words on this list are high-frequency.
Notes about the lists:
1. your browser needs to be configured for .au sound files (i.e., Quicktime)
2. downloading each page takes 20-30 seconds, more over a modem connection
